m&WDAO Charter and Roadmap (Trial Edition)

Most of the execution plans in this charter and roadmap have since been superseded by the EcoFi framework. This document is preserved chiefly as a record of the founding intent and vision of the project.

As of June 9, 2025, the first cohort of m&WDAO OGs had assembled, and the m&WDAO Charter and Roadmap (Trial Edition) was steadily taking shape through the collaboration of the Product Guild OGs and the Reporting Guild OGs. Because m&WDAO’s first-phase operations centered on the Reporting Guild, the trial edition contains a large number of rules framed around the Reporting Guild as an example. As the Development Guild, the Product Guild, the Research Guild, and the Operations Guild develop, the m&WDAO Charter and Roadmap (Trial Edition) will continue to be refined. By June 28, the first batches of Development Guild and Reporting Guild OGs and guild leads had largely assembled.

As the project’s thinking kept iterating, most of the execution plans in this charter and roadmap have since been superseded by the EcoFi framework. This document is preserved chiefly as a record of the project’s founding intent and vision — and, in its final section, as a chronicle of early m&WDAO announcements and m&W’s progress.

1. Philosophy and Mission

  • A community with a shared future for mankind: “AI+blockchain” is carrying humanity into a new era of digital civilization
  • Where we stand (1): the order of the commercial-civilization era keeps degenerating
  • Where we stand (2): without blockchain to establish order for intelligent networks, can humanity live in harmony with AI?
  • The meaning of m&W: reflections on me&WE (the smaller self and the greater Self) in the context of civilizational iteration
  • The mission of m&WDAO: advancing the construction of a new order for the era of digital civilization
  • The approach: promoting the practice of “AI & Web3”, and helping blockchain establish order for intelligent networks
  • m&WDAO’s entry point: a native Web3 media protocol
  • Our first step: bringing objective, independent, and fair news reporting into the Web3 world to foster the healthy development of the crypto market
  • The path: collaborating through the consensus mechanisms of a DAO, combining on-chain and off-chain approaches
  • m&WDAO’s mid-term plan: cultivating a crypto ecosystem tree, aggregating the ecosystem’s quality resources, and efficiently connecting the crypto ecosystem
  • The Builders m&WDAO gathers: the backbone of the Web3 world — writers, developers, operators, and more
  • Our vision: a place where you can follow your interests, pursue your dreams, and build wealth at the same time

2. Rules and Governance

The Builders m&WDAO gathers must identify with m&WDAO’s philosophy and grasp the essence of “AI+blockchain”; they actively embrace the march toward digital civilization, carrying both the self-aware agency of the smaller self and the reasoned judgment of the greater Self.

2.1 Reporting Guild Rules (likely to be revived during the EcoFi ecosystem incubation stage)

At this stage, taking the goal of achieving our first step as the starting point, we have drawn up rules with the Reporting Guild as their subject:

  1. Uphold journalistic professionalism and adhere to independent, objective, and fair reporting
  2. Reporting mission: for the country (the national economy vis-à-vis US stablecoins and the digital dollar), for the people (RWA — social assets vis-à-vis the digital economy), and for the world (the native crypto market and the Web3 industry — how blockchain can establish order for intelligent networks amid talk of an AI threat)
  3. A duty roster for guild leads, much like the on-duty editor-in-chief of the newspaper and magazine era
  4. Decision-making by the OG elders, steering the style of news coverage and the direction of the media
  5. Community-wide voting, governing routine affairs at the closest possible level, with respect for the professionalism of every section and subgroup

2.2 On Order and Disputes (to be continually refined)

We are committed to taking part in crypto ecosystem building through Web3-native media, and we seek to advance the construction of an order for the journey that passes through the crypto world into digital civilization. Our practice within m&WDAO can serve as a beginning.

If individual rights and interests cannot be protected, any such order is surely a bad law. Hence the premise of “reflecting on the civilizational order of the commercial era and pondering the logic of the smaller self and the greater Self in the digital-civilization era” remains grounded in the protection of individual rights. And in every order and rule we establish, we highlight a natural law of digital society in which “personal freedom and development” align closely with a “community of shared interests and destiny”. We reiterate: we reason about the smaller self and the greater Self within the context of humanity’s civilizational iteration.

  1. Code is law: abide by the rules of smart contracts
  2. Combine bottom-up, all-node voting with top-down OG decision-making
  3. Encourage resolving individual disputes through independent negotiation first — then node mediation assemblies — then professional arbitration

In this section I am merely offering a few rough ideas to invite better ones; more builders with a spirit of governance are needed to refine and complete it…

3. Token and Incentives (as the foundation)

m&WDAO’s token is MWDC, with a total supply of 1 billion, 70% of which is allocated to the community to be mined via POW. The remaining 30% is reserved as a centralized allocation: roughly 18% belongs to the dual-compensation incentive implemented in MWDAO’s early building period — covering co-initiators, guild leads, the DAO’s on-duty stewards, and the first cohort of OGs — and roughly 12% is reserved across four funding rounds.

  1. The first cohort of OG elders, the guild leads, the DAO’s on-duty stewards, and the co-initiators are on a dual-compensation scheme: they receive centralized reserved allocations and also mine via POW
  2. POW mining: collaborators are rewarded according to task outcomes. Taking the Reporting Guild as an example, articles in different reporting styles carry corresponding pay ranges, scored through a combination of guild OG ratings (50%), the on-duty guild lead’s rating (30%), and ratings by members of the same section (20%)
  3. User mining: user DIDs earn token rewards matching the data contribution generated by their actions such as sharing, executed via smart contracts. This feature is meant to encourage users to join in spreading content and contributing traffic growth
  4. User privileges: contributors whose accumulation crosses a data threshold earn an NFT moderator status, with privileges such as founding communities and curating outstanding content from the wider web. These users are primarily industry KOLs with sound judgment of value

4. Traffic and Monetization (the post-iteration community value-capture logic includes but is not limited to this)

To solve the traffic problem, we will combine on-chain and off-chain approaches: original texts and value contributions go on-chain, while traffic behaviors such as reading and sharing stay off-chain. In other words, alongside the Web3 media protocol we will also build Web2-side products.

The Web2-side products will take the form of media apps, covering news formats such as in-depth reporting and hot-topic tracking, as well as research reports and other investment analysis. A video section will also be developed, incubating video creators who offer second readings of in-depth reports and research papers — thereby attracting a much wider base of active user traffic from the crypto market.

Beyond content PR, we will develop every business model for monetizing traffic, including but not limited to display advertising, research, and ecosystem services.

Research will draw on the Research Guild’s and the Reporting Guild’s market research and coverage. It will include investments in undervalued secondary-market projects, and — combined with the media ecosystem — primary-market positioning through DAO-participatory incubation. We will also take cues from the ecosystem services of venture media in the internet era. But beyond the traffic of Web2-side products, building on the Web3-native media’s efficient connection of the crypto ecosystem, we will develop ecosystem-service functions — more extensible than the venture-media service ecosystems of the internet age, and more convenient than media-flavored projects taking part in securities trading within capital markets…

5. Revenue and Distribution (see the white paper for details; already iterated)

All revenue serves one goal: supporting token value.

  1. Revenue from token-denominated actions such as display ads is burned in full
  2. A portion of revenue from research, services, and similar returns is reserved as the DAO’s development fund (the exact ratio to be decided by vote)
  3. Most of the revenue from research, services, and similar returns goes into a token-price management fund; of the tokens bought back cheaply during bear-market price management, part is burned and part is fed back into the mining pool
  4. Token prices are underpinned by commercial value; no dividends are paid from commercial revenue

6. Legacy Matters (keeping this approach)

Given that the development of m&WDAO and its ecosystem-leading and incubated projects is tied to the practice of the previous project, ThePrimedia and TPDAO, we will map the investor allocations and CoreBuilders’ contributions from the previous project into this project’s token plan at a set ratio, totaling 10 million tokens.

Of these, investors (RedLineDAO, BitCokeVenture) account for 30% (3 million), with Wang Feng as strategic advisor.

CoreBuilders Jerry, Dyson, BeeGee, Cherry, Tony, Jiang Wen, Erge, judy, Diandian, Daoist, Jin Tao, and James account for 55% (5.5 million). Friends who took part in building TPDAO during certain periods may not be recorded here, so a further 5% (500,000 tokens) is reserved.

7. New-Recruit Call (suspended as operating ideas iterated)

The AI era has arrived — will what awaits us be Eden, or Paradise Lost?

As a community of shared destiny, humanity must contemplate the destructive possibilities AI could bring. Over the digital civilization that AI is sweeping humanity toward, the initiative still rests in our hands. It is just that the best way forward is not professors co-signing petitions for governments to call a halt, because this cannot be stopped.

If you grasp the essence of “AI+blockchain”, come join us! Together we will travel through the crypto world toward digital civilization; along the way we will take part in crypto ecosystem building with Web3-native media and strive to advance the construction of a new order for digital civilization.

The Builders we need include but are not limited to: news reporting and writing, industry research and report writing, video production, protocol and application development and operations, community building and media operations… The Builders we need come from computer science and other STEM disciplines as well as economics, journalism, and other humanities and social sciences — any major is fine, with third-year undergraduates and first-year master’s students preferred. If you are full of passion, fourth-year undergraduates and second-year master’s students are welcome too — but you may be juggling thesis writing and weighing further study against different career paths, so we do not recommend joining us as a new recruit at that stage.

News Journalist Call

We uphold journalistic professionalism and adhere to independent, objective, and fair reporting. Our mission is to report for the country (the national economy vis-à-vis US stablecoins and the digital dollar), for the people (RWA — social assets vis-à-vis the digital economy), and for the world (the native crypto market and the Web3 industry — how blockchain can establish order for intelligent networks amid talk of an AI threat).

The journalists we need come from computer science and other STEM disciplines as well as economics, journalism, and other humanities and social sciences — students of every background who aspire to devote themselves to news reporting. We aim to foster the healthy development of the crypto market through news reporting, provide ecosystem support for the practice of “AI+blockchain”, and advance the establishment of blockchain-based order for AI. Third-year undergraduates and first-year master’s students are preferred. If you are full of passion, fourth-year undergraduates and second-year master’s students are welcome too — but you may be juggling thesis writing and weighing further study against different career paths, so we do not recommend joining us as a new recruit at that stage.

The MWDAO Charter Published: Building a New Order for Digital Civilization

On June 9, 2025, the MWDAO Charter and Roadmap (Trial Edition) was officially published. MWDAO’s first cohort of OGs had assembled, with the Reporting Guild OGs drawn mainly from standouts of traditional news media such as The Beijing News, Caixin, and Caijing.

In the visionary picture of “AI+blockchain” bringing humanity a better order for digital networks, MWDAO is committed to taking part in crypto ecosystem building with Web3-native media and advancing the construction of a new order for digital civilization. At this stage we are planning a combined on-chain and off-chain approach. Product Guild OG Dyson previously served as a product manager at Tencent off-chain, and on-chain took part in the incubation of an ecosystem project led by the founder of MetaMask.

On-chain development will begin in the second phase. Development Guild OG song went all-in on the blockchain industry in 2016, serving as an advisor on technology and economic-model design for several public chains. MWDAO co-founder Jerry worked as a financial investigative journalist in the traditional-media era and has practiced collaborative content research and creation through DAO mechanisms.

Announcement Timeline

  • June 18 MWDAO announcement: BeeGee has become an OG of the MWDAO Research Guild. In its first phase, the Research Guild mainly provides think-tank support for the Reporting Guild; in its second phase it will carry out research-driven decision-making. BeeGee previously headed the research guild of TigerVCDAO and has extensive research experience.
  • June 19 MWDAO announcement: MWDAO Reporting Guild OG Lu Xiaoxi has officially taken up the post of head of the first section of the Reporting Guild, covering mainly RWA and its regulation. Lu Xiaoxi previously worked at Caixin Weekly in the traditional-media era, covering economics and finance.
  • June 20 MWDAO announcement: Xie Liangbing has become an OG of the MWDAO Reporting Guild, helping MWDAO and the crypto ecosystem train a new force of journalistic professionalism. Xie Liangbing has served as reporter and editor at mainstream media including China Newsweek, The Economic Observer, and Investment Times.
  • June 21 MWDAO announcement: Qiu Jianghong has become an OG of the MWDAO Reporting Guild. Qiu Jianghong has experience as a financial investigative journalist and in blockchain technology research. He previously worked at Caijing Guojia Zhoukan, focusing on capital-markets investigative reporting, then served as a researcher at the China Financial Case Center of the PBC School of Finance at Tsinghua University, and is a founding team member of Tsinghua Financial Review and the China Financial Case Database. He holds a master’s degree in computer technology engineering from Peking University and a Tsinghua EMBA, and is pursuing a doctoral program at the Tsinghua PBC School of Finance while working. He began investing in Bitcoin and studying blockchain-based business models in 2013; in 2018 he put forward concepts such as the “blockchain American consensus” and the “blockchain Chinese consensus”, drawing attention from senior levels; in 2019 he successfully initiated and convened the World Intelligence Congress Blockchain Summit; and since 2021 he has helped launch and operate a number of RWA projects.
  • June 23: To make the meaning of MW easier to explain — and to map more directly onto me&WE (the smaller self and the greater Self) — the OGs decided to rename MWDAO as m&WDAO. m&WDAO is also far more recognizable than MWDAO.
  • June 25: m&WDAO’s role in news reporting will gradually fade. Before protocol development and during smart-contract deployment, the DAO will use its mechanisms to keep reporting well-governed — but in the end this will be handed over to smart contracts (code is law).
  • June 27: m&WDAO Founder Jerry joined the fourteenth session of the Twitter Space “Crypto Circle, Unguarded”, co-hosted by Techubnews, Wind, Uweb, and Lianzhi, introducing m&WDAO and its philosophy.
  • July 1 m&WDAO announcement: Qing Longsheng has joined the MWDAO research think tank. Qing Longsheng is the initiator of BPFS (Blockchain Portable File Storage), formerly a core member of the DAMO Academy blockchain team, and formerly a member of the FDS team at the Institute of Nuclear Energy Safety Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In its first phase, the research think tank provides advisory support for the Reporting Guild’s news coverage; in its second phase it will support the Research Guild’s decision-making.
  • July 5 m&WDAO announcement: Before deploying the smart contracts of the independently developed Web3 media protocol, m&WDAO’s on-chain approach is being optimized — for putting original text content and builder value on-chain, we will build on Cori, developed by Ada, whose content is stored on IPFS. We got to know Ada through Cori back in the TPDAO days, and the relationship has grown into mutual strategic partnership and support.
  • July 8 m&WDAO announcement: Wang Feng was a strategic advisor during our previous project, ThePrimedia (TPDAO). Although m&WDAO has some ties to that earlier project, it is ultimately a new one. For certain reasons, Wang Feng will not serve as strategic advisor in this m&WDAO venture. If any earlier information gave the impression that Wang Feng was a strategic advisor, that was purely a misunderstanding, and we clarify it here.
  • July 14 m&WDAO announcement: before deploying smart contracts and issuing the token, a triple-compensation token mechanism for early participants (especially OGs):
    1. POW mining on claimed tasks — a provisional average estimate is 1,500U (say, a journalist completing one in-depth report a month), one-third of which can be exchanged for U
    2. On top of POW mining, an equivalent share of the centralized reserved allocation is granted as well — locked, and unlocked linearly after listing
    3. Merit packages for milestone progress — one-third of these can also be exchanged. Examples: a successful fundraise, product development reaching internal beta, or the beta concluding with a public launch. The rough plan for now is for this package’s size to approach the POW mining output of the whole stage, with small adjustments in execution based on actual conditions.
    4. PS: once the next funding round closes, at the new valuation, the total of POW-mined and merit-package tokens held can be exchanged for another 10%.
  • July 20 m&WDAO announcement: veteran media professional Zhou Xuesong has become an OG of the m&WDAO Reporting Guild, focused on stablecoins — especially the corporate payment stablecoins of leading companies such as Walmart and Amazon, and JD.com and Alibaba (Ant). Zhou Xuesong was a reporter at China Economic Times in the traditional-media era, and became editor-in-chief of its Zhongshi Finance outlet in the internet era.
  • July 21 m&WDAO announcement: the demo of m&WDAO’s off-chain product is nearly complete, and we hope practitioners and investors with distinctive value propositions will become its first users. 1. You can set up your own community on m&W, share the good content you discover, and rally old friends who share your outlook. 2. We will use a spread-to-mine mechanism to encourage your old friends to reshare articles from your community, helping you gather more new friends. 3. More supporting features will be developed to empower your community.
  • July 25 m&WDAO announcement: m&WDAO OG Abigail has officially become a founding partner of m&W, working with everyone to advance m&W’s business sections. Abigail was a video livestream host at MarsBit and brings excellent strategic design and KOL operations skills. Through building m&WDAO’s guilds, implementing the on-chain solution, developing the off-chain product m&W, and preparing m&W community operations, we gradually settled on launching a founding-partner mechanism at m&W — concentrating outstanding team resources and deploying our best forces to bring m&W’s business sections up one by one. (Note: the partner mechanism has since been discontinued)
  • July 30 m&WDAO announcement: m&WDAO OG Lu Xiaoxi has officially become a founding partner of m&W, working with everyone to advance m&W’s business sections.
